Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is the enterprise division of the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision impaired(DBVI) working with National Industries for the Blind (NIB)provides employment and sales outlets under the Abilityone Program (formerly the JWOD program) for products made by blind, legally blind and severly handicapped individuals. VIB’s Website catalog includes over 3200 AbilityOne products made by individuals affiliated with National industries for the Blind and National Industries for the Severly Handicapped.
The Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled is the AbilityOne Program's federal overseer. Through two Central Nonprofit Agencies, National Industries for the Blind and NISH(serving people with a range of disabilities), the Committee currently works with over 600 nonprofit agencies across the country, as well as in Puerto Rico and Guam, to provide employment opportunities to people with severe disabilities. The purchase of AbilityOne products and services by federal customers helps battle the 70 percent unemployment rate faced by this untapped labor resource.
Our Customers
Virginia Industries for the Blind sells product to federal customers holding valid federal Government Purchase Cards (GPC’s). Such cards are tax free and federal and state taxes are not collected. Eligibility to shop our catalog is determined at the time of customer registration.
